RainClan Roleplay

  • RainClan lives in a rainy pine forest. The pines serve them many purposes- The roots and and the cambium(between the bark and the wood) are edible during tough times, the needles have medicinal characteristics, and most importantly, they carry the clans' main source of water. The water droplets cling to the needles, slowly dripping off, so at whatever time needed the cats can just drink water from their branches.
  • The weather is generally overcast, never gets too hot. If anything, it gets colder than before. Otherwise RainClan has mild weather; because the evergreens never shed their leaves, the seasons are referred to as "Clear Sky and Snow Drift".
  • The prey consists of beavers, ground squirrels, nut hatches, and otters. There are more predators in these woods than most though. The Clan has to be wary of wolves, wolverines, eagles, owls, bears, raccoon, coyotes, foxes, and bob cats. The clan has less to eat because of competition for food.
  • The Camp is made from ten pines that make a circle, the clearing in the middle. The apprentices and medicine cat have a den in the trees; the apprentices' den is made of tightly woven branches that form a platform, and it's covered in furs for them to sleep on. The medicine cat's den is the same except hers has a roof a few feet overhead. They stores their herbs in abandoned owls nests near their den, and there are hollow spaces between the roots of her pine where she keeps the sick.  The Nursery is near the medicine den, on an uphill slope. There's a paw-dug den there, that leads off into different chambers. The den tilts upward so that water doesn't leak into the den; RainClan got the idea from observing a wolf's whelping den. The leader's den is in a lean to that the warriors built. The warrior's den is in a mass of boulders that were grouped together. There are various spaces and rooms in it, plus extra dug out dens in some areas.

  1. Ivykit stood beside Songbird, shrugging.
"Why can't I be as big as you?" Ivykit asks, staring at her own low-rank shoulders and paws, the barrier to the den shook it's leaves a few times, and the sun shown into the den every moment, it was rather chilly out in the clearing which she didn't like at all; Ivykit curled up against Songbird, dragging a few short moss bundles to keep them both warm.

  2. Sunpaw leaped onto a branch off of the apprentice platform, and crawled across it, low against the branch. She stepped onto the medicine den, dismayed to see only Stormpaw there. "Stormpaw..." She whimpered. "I- I think my kits are coming."
His head shot up. "Fawndash is out right now, so I'll have to take care of you." He lead her further onto the den, and she lied down on her side. She heaved, trying to handle the pain. It was a dull thumping, getting stronger every moment. Why does the medicine apprentice have to be a boy? She thought uncomfortably, shifting.
Suddenly Sunpaw shrieked- sharp agony tore through her stomach. "STORMPAW!" She yowled, thrashing. He threw his front paws over her. "Sunpaw stop! You'll hurt the kits!" He shouted.
Stormshadow, Sunpaw's mentor, dashed into the den, followed by Wavepaw. "Sunpaw, are you okay?" Wavepaw asked alarmed.
"Out, now!" Demanded Stormpaw. "Go get Fawndash!" He added, turning to Sunpaw. Her flanks heaved up and down, and she started to feel dizzy. "Push Sunpaw!" Someone instructed, and she did. She felt a kit slide onto the ground, followed by two more.
"There's one more! You have to push!"
"I can't..." Whispered Sunpaw, who felt as if the ground was sucking the energy out of her body.
"Sunpaw! Do it!" Stormpaw snarled, and clamped his jaws down on her muzzle, shocking her into into using her last energy resorts. She lurched, and hardly felt the last kit.
Someone moved them closer to her, and they suckled. She looked up. There were three gold kits and a white one.
She stared at it in a daze, confused. Stormpaw seemed to read her mind; he said, "Sometimes having kits at a young age causes them to have deformities or oddities such as strange eye or fur color."
"Her name will be Frostkit. I'll call the two gold ones in the middle Wheatkit and Dandelionkit... And the one on the end Seedkit."
He smiled. "Dandelionkit... That's a mouthful."
    Fawndash entered the den.

Reedstar gathered the Clan, unaware of the new kit's birth. "Minnowleap, Fawndash, Freshsnow, Fernleaf, Dawnsong, Lingerpaw, and Skypaw will come to the Gathering. Let's go," She announced, and lead her warriors out of camp.

  4. EmberKit woke up and stretched. She was glad that RavenWing was gone. This cat wasn't her mother. She bounded out of the nursery. She went to the fresh kill pile and picked out a mouse. She started to nibble on it. She saw SkyPaw!! "You busy!?" she called to her friend padding up to her.

  5. "I'm going to the Gathering, sorry." Skypaw replied and then walked over with a regretful glance to Reedstar. She mouthed to Emberkit; 'I'm sorry.'.

  6. Fawndash's eyes widened in surprised as she saw the four kits suckling at Sunpaws belly.
"Did you deliver all these kits by yourself, Stormpaw?" FAwndash asked, her gaze evenly surveying the scene. Stormpaw nodded
    "They came fast, Fawndash."
Fawndash nodded, then looked at Sunpaw.
"You must be tired, Sunpaw, Having kits is tiring enough, even with age and expieriance, let alone a young cat like you."She said, and grabbed a pawful of strengthening herbs out from a crevice in the pine.
"I always keep extra herbs in the nursery in case I have to deliver kits in here. " She explained, pushing the small pile of bitter leaves towards the young queen. Sunpaw lapped them up without a complaint.
"Stormpaw," Fawndash mewed to her grey apprentice, "Im giving you the day off, you may go practice battle moves or hunting skills, I know you like to do that." Fawndash mewed with a slight smile. Stormpaws eyes lit up.
"Thanks Fawndash!" He mewed, it wasn't often that he got a day off like this. Maybe he could train with Lingerpaw...
"Oh and Stormpaw," Fawndash said as Stompaw padded out of the nursery, "Id like for you to come to the Moonpine with me tommorow night."

  8. "No! I do!" Skypaw shouted. "Stupid apprentice things. I just wish Emberkit was an apprentice." Skypaw meowed as she was trailing off.

Raven picked up ember and carried her back to camp bringing her back to the nursary she practically dropped her into the moss and spoke sternly to ember, i will come back later when you and i have cooled down, With that raven walked out of the nursary murmuring things under her breath as she walked to the warriors den across the clearing

  12. Dandelionkit pushed against Sunpaw, normally she would enjoy being in the Nursery, but today she just wanted to get out.
She gently sat up, stepping slowly over Frostkit's tail, when she reached Sunpaw Dandelionkit's tail flickered over Sunpaws ear, she froze, when Sunpaw hadn't moved any longer for the first few moments she decided she had probably just gone back to sleep, Dandelionkit finally reached the barrier popping her little head into the leaves; Wide-eyed she was, so many other cats moving around doing their normal warrior duties.

    ex.
    Fawndash walked up to Freshsnow.
    "Hi," Freshsnow mewed.

  14. -The Training Hollow-
    Lingerpaw circled Stormpaw
"You cant let your eyes leave your opponent," Lingerpaw explained, her bright blue eyes intent on Stormpaw's
"ok, " He mewed, as the two cats circled eachother. Suddenly, Lingerpaw lunged at Stormpaw, her soft white paws outstrected to bowl him over. Stormpaw ducked out of the way of the smaller cat, crouching low to the ground, his gaze followed Lingerpaw as she landed ungracefully in the pine needles. Dazed, Lingerpaw looked up, but a second too late, because Stormpaw had already leaped on top of her, and had pinned her down, a soft purr rumbling in his chest
"Never take your eyes off your opponent, Lingerpaw"

  16. Dandelionkit popped out of the nursery, she was practically bouncing on her paws, coming to a slight halt beside the fresh-kill pile, her appetite wasn't necessary at the moment. Dandelionkit had a sudden urge to explore, everywhere and everything.
    ___________________________________________

Ivykit spotted Dandelionkit in seconds, it wasn't hard to notice the small kit moving quickly to get out. Ivykit prodded after Dandelionkit, the brambles brushed her fur ruffly, though she didn't show any sign of notice. She had to find Dandelionkit, as soon as possible.

  17. Seedkit awoke with a yawn. She sat up and looked around a little. She popped her head out of the nursery, deciding it was safe to go out.

  18. Lingerpaw- Lingerpaw and Stormpaw padded into camp together, laughing.
"And then she said, The catmint is stuck to your whiskers!" Lingerpaw mew, chuckling as she finished the joke. Srormpaw laughed, his eyes sparkling, then glanced over at the fresh kill pile, which the kits seemed to be using as some sort of mountain.
"This is my territory!" Wheatkit yowled at his sisters, who watched him with wide eyes.
"Not anymore its not!" Yowled an older kit, bowling him off the pile
"Hungry ?" Stormpaw asked Lingerpaw, and she nodded
"That is, if we can get to it" She mewed, smiling as Stormpaw waded thru the kits, trying not to trip over them. The kits automatically began leaping on Stormpaw
"Play our new game with us!" Wheatkit yowled, who was perched right beside Stormpaws ear.
"Maybe some other time little warrior." Stormpaw mewd good-naturedly as he pretented to buck the little golden kit off hhis back, which brought squeals of joy from Wheatkit.
After gently tumbling the kits off his back, Stormpaw padded back to Lingerpaw, A Squirrel in his jaws.
"Mm my favorite!" She mewed as the padded over to a shady spot of camp
"I know" He mewed, looking at Lingerpaw.
"Howd you know that?" She mewed, laughing a little
"Because when you were a kit, you would always try to take the biggest squirell off the fresh kill pile, but Reedstar would always scold you for it because you never could finish it." He mewed, remembering the days of Lingerpaws kithood.
"I cant believe you remember that!" She laughed
Stormpaw shrugged, he remembered most everything about
    Lingerpaw.

Fernleaf- Fernleaf padded into camp, with a plump sparrow in her jaws. She had been unusually lucky for leaf bare to catch such a large piece of prey.
"Is that sparrow I smell?" Called a voice from the nursery, it was Songbird, Fernleaf's twin sister.
"Yes!" She called back as she brought her kill to the piney den.
"How are the kits? " She asked as she layed the sparrow down at her sisters paws.
"A handful, I usually help out with Sunpaw's since she is only an apprentice, poor thing. And Ivykits becoming more and more adventourous by the day."
Fernleaf nodded, she wondered if one of these kits would one day become her apprentice

  19. Reedstar returned to camp, exhausted. She staggered to High Pine, and leaped up, slowly climbing to the top.
"Cats of RainClan, meet beneath High Pine for a Clan Meeting!" She shouted wearily. Cats joined, exchanging confused glances.
"Shalekit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Shalepaw. Your mentor will be Fernleaf. I hope Fernleaf will pass down all she knows on to you. Fernleaf, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You have shown yourself to be brave and loyal. You will be the mentor of Shalepaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to him."
"Emberkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Emberpaw. Your mentor will be me. I hope to pass down all I knows on to you."
" I, Reedstar, leader of RainClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. Sunpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"
She nodded slowly, contemplating. "I do."
"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Sunpaw, from this moment you will be known as Sunstreak. StarClan honors your stamina and loyalty, and we welcome you as a full warrior of RainClan."
Reedstar turned in Wavepaw's direction. " I, Reedstar, leader of RainClan, call upon our ancestors to look down upon this apprentice, He has trained hard to learn the ways of the warrior code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn. Wavepaw, do you promise to uphold the ways of the warrior code?"
    "I do." He replied boldly.
"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Wavepaw, from this moment you will be known as Waveripple. StarClan honors your strength and humility, and we welcome you as a full warrior of RainClan."
Fawndash walked into the clearing, and looked up, surprised. "Oh... Reedstar, I came to tell you that Stormpaw and I are going to the Moon Pine. We need to go now."
Reedstar nodded. "Stormpaw, you are dismissed."

  20. Stormpaw looked ruefully back at Lingerpaw, who was left to listen to the rest of her mothers ceremony without him. Yet he could not fight down the exitement growing within im. He knew why Fawndash had decided to go to the Moonpine with him so suddenly.
"I suppose you know already why I have called you from your dutes,Stormpaw, Fawndash mewed, the sun seting red behind her. I
Stormpaw nodded, his eyes glowing in the half light.
The pair traveled in silence for a long time, the sun hhad long set by the time they reached the towering pine near the edge of their territory. The ancient bark was rugged and easy to climb as the two cats defty sprung up the tree with practiced ease. When they had reached the very topmost branch, Fawndash looked at Stormpaw, the moon rising behind her head.
"I, Fawndash, medicine cat of Rainclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. He has trained hard to understand the ways of a medicine cat, and with your help he will serve his Clan for many moons.Stormpaw, do you promise to uphold the ways of a medicine cat, to stand apart from rivalry between Clan and Clan and to protect all cats equally, even at the cost of your life? "
    Stormpaw nodded solemnly,"I do."

"Then by the powers of StarClan I give you your true name as a medicine cat. Stormpaw, from this moment you will be known as Stormbreeze. StarClan honors your care for your clanmates and diligence , and we welcome you as a full medicine cat of Rainclan

  21. Reedstar continued, " I, Reedstar, leader of RainClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. Lingerpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"
    Quietly, she answered, "I do."
"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Lingerpaw, from this moment you will be known as Lingersong. StarClan honors your stamina and loyalty, and we welcome you as a full warrior of RainClan."
She moved on, her heart in her throat. Flickerkit would never become a warrior with her sisters.
" I, Reedstar, leader of RainClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn. Skypaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"
She stepped forward and said confidently, "I do."
"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Skypaw, from this moment you will be known as Skybranch. StarClan honors your stamina and loyalty, and we welcome you as a full warrior of RainClan."

  26. Dandelionkit stared up at the ceremony, wide-eyed while Ivykit stood a few seconds behind.
"Skybranch! Lingersong! WaveRipple! Shalepaw! Emberpaw! Sunstreak!" Dandelionkit squeaked, while Ivykit along.

When the ceremony ended, Dandelionkit pelted up to Reedstar with complete glance.
"When will I have my ceremony!?" She squeaked excitedly.
Ivykit was returning to the nursery, only to spot Shalepaw coming down off of the Highledge.

"Shalepaw!" Ivykit called, dashing over excitedly.
"Congratulations, you're officaly an apprentice." Ivykit smiled, to her friend.

  28. Lingersong looked sharply up at Skybranch, surprised by her sisters warmness.
"Yes, it seems we are" She mewed quietly, her blue eyes happy that the day had finally come for them to be warriors, but behind the happy gaze, was a deep sadness, for this should have also been Flickerkits warrior ceremony as well, but was now an experience she would never have. Lingersong wondered what Flickerkits warrior name would have been, she was sure it would have been a strong, beautiful name.

Fernleaf padded up to Shalepaw, smiling warmly at her apprentice
"I was thinking we would start out with some hunting training for today" she mewed brightly, determined to teach Shalepaw everything she knew. This was her first apprentice, and she was slightly nervous about wether or not she would be a good mentor. Would Shalepaw like her? Would she be able to teach him everything about being a warrior in just 6 short moons?

Fawndash and Stormbreeze padded back to camp late that night. She nodded to Rushingwater who was on watch for the night as she and her apprentice brushed past the fluffy warrior. Fawndash closed her eyes, letting the scents of her clan wash over her, she hoped she had ,made the right decision about Stormbreeze. He was a hard working and honest cat, but she could tell something was different about him lately, despite the dreams from Starclan she had been having about him. Their warrior ancestors seemed to have great trust in the young grey tom, seemingly favoring him over the other apprentices in the clan. Fawndash knew something was off though, She could just tell.

  29. Songbird rushed out of the ceremony to find Fernleaf, she ran off to see Fern padding along with Shalepaw. Songbird had heard Fern was supposed to be training him and she was super excited to congratulate her. She'd never been so proud of her sister, she'd never really been that proud of anyone. Songbird knew it must be a ton of pressure on her sister, but she knew Fern could handle it. Still it must be a terribly large amount of pressure, "She's got this," Songbird mumbled to herself with an excited smile. Still she was upsetted that she didnt get to talk to Fernleaf. Songbird padded off into the woods to get some fresh air and to get away from the noise.

"Do me and Lingersong hold vigil tonight?" she asked.

  31. Seedkit poked her brother and sisters. "Want to see if one of the older warriors wants to play with us?" she asked.

  32. "Yes, as well as Waveripple and Sunstreak." Reedstar replied, wrapping her tail over her paws. "I want you and Lingersong to know that I'm very proud of both of you," She continued. "I'm sorry that... I mean, I know that I haven't exactly been the best mother to you. I just have a hard job and its hard to find spare time..."
Skybranch shifted her paws uncomfortably, and looked away. "It's okay," She muttered, then padded off to find her sister.
Reedstar stared after her, then looked down at little Dandelionkit and smiled. "You still have quite a few moons, but they'll pass quicker than you think." Dandelionkit bounced away as small snowflakes started to drift down into the camp.
Reedstar trotted over to the nursery, wanting to check on the queens and kits. Ravenwing was just leaving camp, and Reedstar noticed her extended belly. She wondered who the father was; she hadn't noticed Ravenwing spending extra time with anyone. Disregarding this, she continued to the nursery to find Songbird sitting a few feet from the entrance.
"Good to see you up and running again, Songbird," Reedstar said. The queen smiled and dipped her head.

  34. Dandelionkit bounced away, bumping into Seedkit accidentally.
"Hi!" She squeaked happily, wadding a ball of moss at her sister.
"Where is Frostkit?" Dandelionkit offered, searching the nursery until she found some sort of trace around Frostkir.

"Frostkit..?" Dandelionkit mewed, in the darkest of all corners lay Frostkit.
Dandelionkit sighed, building up moss bundles around Frostkit.
    "Are you okay?"

  35. Splashwave took stand outside the camp entrance, keeping watch of any disturbances.
The leaves bristled, but for a reason only it was too quiet. Too quiet for it to be completely and utterly safe, staring directly for the brambles nothing made a sound.
"Rushingwater," He whispered, Rushing water moved his head in the direction of the brambles where they shook breathlessly. Rushingwater moved to the right, while Splashwave moved to the left.
A badger, advancing disgustedly towards it, the badger pelted for the border determined to exit Rainclans territory.
Rushingwater dashed up behind Splashave, with the same glance as himself.
"Go warn Reedstar," Splashwave said. A worried glance between them both,

(Sorry for acting Rushingwater, I do know I dont own him or anything..But no one owns him, so I just acted him in this one..)

  36. Waveripple found Sunstreak and smiled. "Ready to keep guard on vigil all night?"
She grinned and walked to the camp entrance with him. Cats were starting to recede into their dens and trees, because the moon was high.
Sunstreak settled down at the north corner camp entrnace, and directed Lingersong, Skybranch, and Waveripple to go guard the other east south and west corners.
Rememerbing last minute, she ran to the nursery and whispered, "Songbird, will you watch my four kits tonight? I' have to be on vigil."

    ReplyDelete
  37. Fernleaf looked at the four young cats on vigil. She had remembered hers and Songbirds vigils as if they were only yesterday. They had been a couple moons older than these cats, considering they were not clanborn, so they had to start their training late. As she began to climb up the warriors tree, she glanced at Splashwave, who was telling Reeedstar something. She loved the way he looked in the half light. Shaking her head, she mewed quietly to herself
"Stop mooning over him and get some sleep you silly she cat"
    -----The Next Day_------

Fernleaf awoke to the sound of apprentices chatting excitedly in the clearing far below. Stretching, she poked her head out of her tree den to see what was going on
"Reedstar told me we would learn battle moves today!" She heard Emberpaws exited mew
Gliding deftly down from the tree, Fernleaf padded up to the two apprentices
"Shalepaw, Emberpaw, do you want to see if we can all train together today?"

  38. Splashwave approached Reedstar nervously, of what she would become of the news he had to say.
    "Reedstar," He offered,
"Rushingwater and I spotted a badger in Hiddenclan territory, it was rather close to the barrier." His narrowed eyes filled in a confused glance.
    _____The Next Day_____

Ivykit bounced on her paws, leaping in the air excitedly, though for no reason. She wadded a ball of moss and threw it at all, Seedkit, Dandelionkit.
"Wake up!" She shouted, gently bouncing onto their pelts. She leaped off,

Dandelionkit stared at Ivykit in shock,
"Are fox's attacking?" She leaped up hissing in defense, and Ivykit rolled her eyes.
"No, silly! Now get up!" Ivykit protested,
Dandelionkit stood up following Ivykit out of the nursery.
Ivykit hopped onto Fernleaf's back, while Dandelionkit pushed Emberpaw to the ground.
"I've done it! Can I become an apprentice now?" Asks Dandelionkit, Ivykit still finding it harder to push Fernleaf down.
Dandelionkit twitched her whiskers in laughter,
    "I'm tougher!"
"No..I am! She just new I was coming," Ivykit insisted.
"But-" Dandelionkit cried out, and Ivykit padded away.
Dandelionkit wasnt easily hated, her tiny head dipped below sadly.

  40. Seedkit pounced on her sisters, "I'm the apprentice now!" she meowed, laughing.

  41. Fernleaf laughed happily as the kits tumbled over her and Emberpaw, then looked at the forlorn Dandelionkit.
"hey now, whats wrong?" She asked the tiny kit.

Lingersong looked over at Stormbreeze as the twop cats padded thru the forest together, each enjoying the presence of the other.
"Funny, how we got our names the same day" Lingersong mewed.
"Yeah, almost as if it was planned" Stormbreeze said, only half joking. He glanced up at the bright snowdrift sky. Was this Starclans way of approving Stormbreeze and Lingersongs close friendship? He hoped so. The more time he spent with Lingersong, the harder it was getting for him to pull away from her to get back to his medicine cat duties. He often forgot certai n herbs, even if just for a second, when he though about Lingersong. Shaking his head, he stopped at a patch of coltsfoot.
"Your supposed to be helping me collect herbs remeber? " He mewed, his gaze warm
"Oh yeah." Lingersong said as she began to work her claws around the sunny yellow flowers. Sighing, she looked at Stormbreeze. She suddenly wished very hard that he was not a medicine cat. They could train together, fight together..... and posibly be her mate..?
Lingersong blinked. No! How could she have these thoughts about a medicine cat?! Stormbreeze was simply her best friend, nothing more.

  46. Reedstar shouted so everyone could hear her, "I want Fernleaf to lead a patrol to check the borders, with Skybranch, Splashwave, Rushingwater, and the apprentices."
The patrol gathered, and Fernleaf reported to Reedstar.
"If you happen to see that badger, call for back up. I don't want our new apprentices getting hurt."
Fernleaf nodded and lead the patrol out of camp.

  47. Splashwave caught onto the commotion, following Fernleaf out of the barrier he stopped.
"Fernleaf, this is where Rushingwater and I were patrolling, the badger was hiding somewhere in that holly-bush." He notified her, but the badger wasn't there anymore; Though the scent wasn't anywhere near faint. He stood beside Shalepaw, and Emberpaw, keeping glare at every rustle in the bushes.

  48. Skybranch walked over next to Emberpaw, hoping she didn't walk away. She sniffed the ground and caught a HUGE whiff of Badger. She scrunched up her face in disgust at the foul smell.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Fernleaf looked over at Splashwave.
"Then we must keep our guard up." She mewed with a worried glance at Shalepaw and Emberpaw. She could sense and underlying unease eminating from the other cats and frankly, Fernleaf wasnt so calm herself. This was no battle patrol, and if the badjer made an appearance now, it might be a difficult battle to fight. Flicking her tail, she signaled to the rest of her patrol to pick up the pace. But before they had gotten 5 tail lengths, a huge male badger burst forth from a patch of juniper bushes, its eyes wild and bulky body crouched to attack.

Fawndash tossed and turned in her nest, throwing bits of pine needles agaist the trunk. She was in a pine forest, much like Rainclans, but the scent was... musky, reeking of wolf. As she looked around, she saw a beautiful grey blue wolf with a blazing white diamond on her forehead.
"Who are you? Where am i?" Fawndash demanded in wolfish, gazing at the large predator without fear. She had a history with wolves, she knew how to speak in thier tounge, and she knew much about their ways.
"You are in Moonpack territory, and i am Kaliska, a delta of Bloodpack." The blue wolf said, in a voice that was soft and quiet, espicially for a wolf.
"Why have you brought me here?" Fawndash mewed, her green eyes glinting darkly in the piney light
"My pack is in great trouble, we need your help, your knowledge of differant touges and cultures is needed deeply at this time"
Fawndash took a moment to let this sink in. The pack needed her? how could she leave her clan for moons on some quest to help a faraway pack that wasnt even her own species?
"How did you find me?" Fawndash asked, just asking the first question tht came to mind
" My mother, Kiche, knew you well, if you recall." Fawndash did recall. She remembered the large white she wolf that she had once considered her friend.
"How can i just leave my clan to help your pack?" Fawndash asked, torn between her friendship with the wolves, and loyalty to help her clan
"I have heard wind that you have a very capable apprentice on your paws." Kaliska said, her blue eyes glowing in the beam of moonlight. Fawndash looked undecidedly at her paws.
" I cant." She mewed, her clan was just too important to her, she couldnt leave them for so long
"Please, consider it, the fate of the packs relys on your help" Kaliskas eyes were now pleading, and a deperate tone creeped into her voice.
Fawndash oped her mouth to reply, but the pine forest was already fading and , before she knew it, she was back in her den, the evening sun streaming through the pine needles

  50. Splashwave shoved Fernleaf out of the way, pushing the small Emberpaw and Shalepaw out of the way also. Putting himself in harms way, Splashwave hissed between his teeth, leaping up and onto the badger- Clawing at its under-belly the badger shoved Splashwave off with his strong, hind legs. The badger made a blow, Splashwave ducked stabbing the badger harshly in the side with his two front claws. The badger then turned tail, rushing for the border. Splashwave looked back at the patrol, for a sudden moment his eye-sight went completely black, Splashwave had collapsed with a deep wound in his pelt.
The pain increased, he knew he had fallen. And wasn't awake, though he could hear every sound, and he could feel everything.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Fernleaf rushed to Splashwave. HOw could she have let this happen? the first border patrol she had ever lead and this happens. Looking briskly to Shalepaw she mewed
"Quick got back to camp and alert Fawndash. waste no time"
The apprentice nodded and flitted off into the underbrush. She nodded to Rushingwater and Skybranch.
"Help me move him." The three cats slowily lifted the bleeding Splashwave onto thier shoulders.
"Hes losing alot of blood." Rushingwater commented worriedly.
"I know, we must be swift." Fernleaf mewed, trying to keep the guilt and desperation out of her voice. She should have been ready, she should have had a plan, it was HER fault Splashwave ended up like this. Pushing the troubling thoughts from her mind, She focused on the task at hand, Getting her clanmate to safety.

Fawndash looked up from her thoughts as Shalepaw sprinted into the clearing.
"Fawndash! Splashwave's been hurt by a badger." Shalepaw mewed, his voice steady. Fawndash jumped up, and briskly climbing upto the old owl nest where she kept her herbs, she grabbed a pawful of cobwebs, chervil, goldenrod, and horsetail.
AS she lept down from a low branch on her tree, she saw Skybranch, Fernleaf, and Rushinwater pad in, carrying an unconcious Splashwave.
"Lay him down in my root den." Fawndash commanded the cats. When he was safely layed down amongst the pine roots, Fawndash rubbed the horsetail and goldenrod poultices into the wound.
"Here. Chew this up." Fawndash told Fernleaf and the brown tabby shecat began chewing the leafy green plant up.
When the poultice was done, Fawndash rubbed the green poultice into the nasty wound on Splashwaves shoulder, Wrapping cobwebs around it to stauch the bleeding and hold the poultices in place.
"He should be fine, his wound will just take time to heal."
She watched as Fernleaf reluctantly left with the others, her gaze lingering on the dark grey tom.

  52. Ivykit heard all the commotion about badgers, and that someone had gotten injured.
Ivykit didn't want to wake Dandelionkit, or Seedkit up; they were already tired as it was, throwing moss balls at each other.
    Ivykit looked at Fernleaf,
"You look weird." She commented, not noticing how rude it was,
"What happened!?" She leaped up excitedly.
    ____________________________________________

Splashwave's breath grew fast, and his eyes wouldn't dare open.
Splashwave shook restlessly, the pain in his shoulder felt worse but he figured it was probably healing anyway.
His eyes tore open, staring up and around the root den, his breathing growing soft and steady once more.
"Fawndash," He pushed the words out painfully,
"What happened?" Worry still turned into his eyes.

  53. Skybranch held her breath as she watched Fawndash do her Medicine Thing. She had an idea, she ran over to the fresh kill pile and grabbed two mice and raced back towards the Medicine Den, she dropped one of them at Fawndash's paws. "For you when you get a break to eat." She explained.
    "Thanks." came the short reply.
"Should I give the other one to Splashwave?" she asked Fawndash.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Fawndash nodded in reply as she finished up on Splashwave's wound.
"He wont be able to eat for awhile, but im sure he will appreciate it when she can." She said with a brief smile. Then she looked at Splashwave.
"It seems you have gotten into a tussle with a badger," She mewed, " He gave you a nasty gash in your shoulder, It should take a moon or so to heal."
    Splashwaves face fell
"Don't worry, ill give you plenty to do in my den." She mewed, eyeing the big pile of unsorted leaves that Lingersong and Stormbreeze had just brough in.

  60. Splashwave stared at the herbs mixed in different scents,
    "Okay.." Inwardly he thought strange,
"Are Fernleaf, Skybranch, and the rest of the patrol okay?" Splashwave wouldn't be able to live with himself if not. Trying to lift himself up, he fell back down the pain in his shoulder increased and Splashwave hated it. He noticed the prey on the floor infront of him, and he moved away from it,
"I don't have any appetite to eat. " He lied, he wouldn't eat while there were badgers still in Hiddenclan territtory.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Fawndash nodded.
"There all fine. Fernleaf seems rather worried about your recovery." She mewed, as she sensed the reddish brown shecats prescence outside her den. Fawndash knew the look in Fernleaf's eyes when she saw Splashwave. It was the look of a moony shecat. she had seen it millions of times.
"I think Reedstars asking Fernleaf to take another patrol to check and see if the badgers left Rainclan." She mewed as she heard Reedstar talking outside

    ReplyDelete
  62. ((Ravenwing... we are already back at camp talking.. XD))

  63. Splashwave eyes widened,
"I have to come." He snapped, trying to pull himself out of the position he was in; the pain increased though he ignored it completely, pulling himself up to his paws, his left shoulder raised a bit.
"I won't let her-" He interrupted himself,
"The patrol, go without me." He protested,

    ReplyDelete
  64. Reedstar said to Fernleaf, "I think I will come on this patrol with you. I need some fresh air."
As Fernleaf regathered Skybranch, Rushingwater, and the apprentices, she added, "Lets take Songbird and Waveripple with us as well, in case they are still here."
The reddish she cat nodded and went to get the extra warriors.
Reedstar glanced at her current deputy, Minnowleap, and growled lowly to herself. Lately he wasn't taking responsibility for his deputy duties- never sending out or leading patrols, never going out to hunt, never checking on the apprentices' training.
As Reedstar followed Fernleaf and the other cats march out of camp, she wondered what to do about it. Would StarClan allow her to switch deputies? And if so, who would be fit for the job?
The patrol stealthily prowled over the soft pine needle covered ground, effortlessly silent. The calming, wild scent of pine forest sap washed over Reedstar, soothing her troubling thoughts. Soon they came to the juniper bushes where the badger had supposedly burrowed. Sure enough, the scent was there, though slightly stale. Fernleaf nearly directed the patrol to follow the trail when she caught Reedstar's eye. She lowered her tail, and asked guiltily, "Sorry- would you like to lead on?"
"No, go ahead," Replied the leader, who was eager to see how well her warriors worked together.
They followed the scent trail, but it crossed into the other Clan.
"Good riddance," Said Reedstar, and the with that, the patrol headed back to camp. Small balls of ice started to bounce down into the woods- it was the first hail in a few seasons in RainClan.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Fernleaf flattened her ears against the pelting bullets of ice. The badger was gone, taking her clanmates unease with it. But her own unease lingered like a bad case of fleas. She was worried about Splashwave, Would his wound get infected? Would he be ok?
"Fawndash knows what shes doing." Fernleaf looked over to see Reedstar looking at her.
"I know, its just-" Fernleaf didn't know what to say, could she confide in Reedstar about how she felt?
"Ive seen how you look at him, its not hard to tell." Reedstar mewed with a hint of mischief in her voice. Fernleaf's ears burned. Was she that obvious?
"I- Well.... yeah." She mewed, avoiding her leaders gentle gaze.

Lingersong gazed up from the warriors den at the storm-grey sky, hail was falling, pinging through the pine's spindly branches. The hail was a prelude to snow, which could come any day now, and she hoped that it wouldn't send the prey running to its burrows for the Snow Drift season. An icy trickle slid down the dark green pine needle directly above her head, the cold, clear water dripped on to Lingersong's head, running through her dark fur in shadowed rivulets. Lingersong's heart felt heavy, and her spirit seemed as damp as her pelt. She gazed out into the rain-drenched forest that so perfectly mirrored her inner mood

    ReplyDelete
  66. Splashwave intensely stared at Fawndash,
"Give me something, anything to keep me up." Splashwave asked, though it was more like an order if truth be told. His fur moved slowly in a different direction almost moving himself off of his paws, Splashwave confidently eyed Fawndash solemnly.

Dandelionkit exited the nursery den, her soft blue eyes moving towards the fresh-kill pile and back,
    Seedkit?" She called gently,
"Everything is so quiet, it doesn't make sense." Dandelionkit added afterwards to her sister.

Ivykit moved closer to her mother Songbird, soft snow was falling along with dry snowflakes and Ivykit felt cold and disturbed by the feeling.
Gathering some more moss she curled it up beside them both.

  67. "I feel the same Dandelionkit. It feels like something is coming, something big, bigger than the clans have ever seen. I'm scared." Seedkit replied to her sister.

It was hailing hard once the patrol got back to camp. "Oww!" Skybranch yowled as one pelted her on her back. She raced into the Warrior's den as fast as she could. She saw a few cats regretfully sifting through the fresh kill pile to see if anything was worth taking. "I'm not hungry anyways." she meowed.
She put her tail around her paws and slowly started to groom herself.

    ReplyDelete
  68. FreshSnow hated the cold, she glanced up at the morning sun, it feeling warm on her white soft pelt. She licked a paw and drew it over her ear, she padded out of the clearing, towards the hunting grounds. She scented the air, catching a whiff of mouse. She smoothly dropped into a hunters crouch and started to slowly pull herself across the frost bitten ground to her prey. She pounced delicately grasping it between her front claws. She killed it swiftly then burried her kill. Catching a few more she padded back to camp, with two mice and a vole, setting them down on the fresh kill pile she sat down and started to eat one of the mice. Glancing up once and a while, listening to the Elder's tales..

    ReplyDelete
  69. Fawndash looked sternly at Splashwave.
"The patrols already left and come back anyways, and don't worry, if you lie down, and get some rest, you may be out of here sooner." Then here eyes softened and her tone became gentler
"I know its hard, to stay down like this when everyone else is up and going" She mewed, her the look in her eye sympathetic"But-"
Before Fawndash could finish her statement, there was a mew at the entrance to her den.
"Uhm, Fawndash, can I come in?" It was Fernleaf, her voice sounded strained, as the hail pelted against her pelt.
"Yes come in." Fawndash mewed. The ruddy brown shecat padded in, her pelt soaking, and shoulders shivering.
"I came to see how Splashwave was doing." She mewed, teeth chattering slightly.
"He doing fine, too fine to be honest ." Fawndash mewed with a look back at the restless tom.
"Oh, well that's good." Fernleaf mewed, trying not to let the relief show in her eyes.

    ReplyDelete
  70. "Very well." He admitted, he was obviously wrong about it.
"Fernleaf, can we walk?" Splashwave offers, looking to Fawndash with a pleading glance to get out of the medicine den.

  71. Stormbreeze took a glance at his experienced mentor, humor lighting in his eyes. They trotted out of the den and leaped down from the branches. Stormbreeze precariously clawed down the pine, the hail bouncing wildly of of branches and tree trunks.
He landed with a thud onto the ground, and Fawndash said, "I'd like you to come with me to collect juniper where that badger was; now that it's gone, it's safe to go."
Stormbreeze hesitated, his paw in midair.
"In this hail, Fawndash?" He asked.
"Your not afraid of a little ice are you?" She teased.
"No... but what if it starts to snow hard while we're away from camp?"
"You know that will not happen, Stormbreeze," She remarked, her voice a bit sharper this time. "I've known you your entire life. Why must you avoid me now?"
"I just- it's nothing." He said quickly. "I just promised Lingersong we'd go on a border patrol later." He flinched as he sensed her relax her muscles and inhale deeply. She often did this when she reached a conclusion.
"Well then, a promise mustn't be broken," Fawndash said. "Just remember you're not a warrior."
He nodded and turned away to find Lingersong. How had Fawndash nailed him? A promise mustn't be broken? She was obviously hinting at his call to be a medicine cat. She must know his inner feelings for his best friend. Then again, why was he surprised? In his training, he learned that Fawndash could see into the soul and further. She knew everything about everyone and fairly judged them all.
    ---
Stormbreeze sat next to Lingersong under their favorite tree in the forest. It was an old scotch pine; it's branches so long that they drooped to the ground, creating a hidden hollow in the center big enough for several cats. Stormbreeze and Lindersong had come here so many times that there was a indention in the soft brown pine needles of where each cat sat.
The medicine cat apprentice poured out his worries about Fawndash to Lingersong.
"I think your just being paranoid," She replied softly. "Besides, there's nothing wrong with two cats being friends, right?"
Stormbreeze thought he heard uncertainty in that last part, or maybe it was just wishful thinking.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Fernleaf padded out of camp with Splashwave.
"What did you want to Talk to me about? " She mewed, her mind whirring with thoughts.

Lingersong looked over at Stormbreeze. What was that look in his eyes? Longing? Desire? She was sure she had the same look in her own dark blue eyes. She knew how she felt, She just couldn't bring herself to come out and say it to Stormbreeze, for fear of it getting him in trouble, or him comepletely rejecting her. The thought made Lingersong's stomach do a flip flop. What if he didn't feel the same way? What if this was a lonely one-ended feeling.
"Lingersong? Are you ok?" Stormbreeze said, concern in his mew. Lingersong looked up abruptly, she must have looked like she had just seen a ghost.
"Yes, fine." She mewed with a smile, "Just a bit tired."
Lingersong longed to pour out her penned up feelings, to tell Stormbreeze everything, but she couldn't, and it made her feel sick. Lingersong wanted to throw up.
"I have to go" She mewed and pelted out of the tree, her eyes streaming as she ran into the rain-drenched forest.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Splashwave's paws still ached beneath the pine needles, and harsh leaves still beckoning in the wind. Then it hit him, Splashwave and Fernleaf grew up together, Fernleaf had done a lot more for him than he ever could. What was this piercing feeling in the center of his heart?
Splashwave walked in front of Fernleaf wearily.
"Why did you do it?" He asks nervously, "Why did you help me? You've done a lot more for me and I never gave anything back in return. Not even a Thank you," He added, staring at her directly in the eyes, his limp shoulder went down and his light green eyes met with hers.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Fernleaf halted in surprise.
"B-because I care about you" She mewed, avoiding his gaze,"I guess you could say I care about you more than I care about most cats.". Fernleaf inwardly kicked herself. She sounded like an idiot! She looked at Splashwave, hoping that he understood, and would not reject her as even a friend now that Fernleaf had basically come out and said admitted her feeling for the grey tom.

Fawndash sat in her den, deeply troubled. Kaliska had visited her in her dreams 2 times since the first time Fawndash had visited the moon-drenched pine forest. But now, even if Fawndash was the only thing that could save the packs, She couldn't leave. Not now. Not now that she had discovered the truth about Stormbreeze. What if while She was away, Stormbreeze decided to turn from his medicine cat duties to be with Lingersong. Who would Fawndash help? Her clan and her promising apprentice, or her long-buried alliance with the Packs?

  75. Splashwave eyes widened in surprise.
"I-" He began, and then his eyes immediately lit up.
"Did you honestly, ever doubt me?" He questioned, he had always had a small feeling towards Fernleaf, ever since he was a little kit. He flat out didn't admit a thing, he thought their strong friendship would come to a sudden halt and then down it would go. His heart beat fast, and his mind was filled in excitement, or should it be his heart??

"I- Care about you too." He flat out admitted it,

  76. Fernleaf felt her ears growing hot but her heart raced with exitment.
"W-wow, that's great." she mewed for lack of better words. The cat that she had fallen in love with actually loved her back! This was the best day of Fernleaf's simple life.
As the two cats walked back to camp together, fernleaf let her pelt brush Splashwave's, enjoying his presence beside her.
"So how long have you felt this way?" Splashwave mewed, his gaze not leaving Fernleaf's . Fernleaf thought for a moment. How low HAD she felt this way?
"I don't remember." She admitted with a laugh, as they padded into camp together

    ReplyDelete
  77. Splashwave twitched his whiskers in laughter,
"Race you." Splashwave bolted for the camp, all of the excitement kept his completely occupied and off of his shoulder.
Splashwave ended the race beside the fresh-kill pile, he chose a vole and prodded up to Fernleaf.
"Want to share?" He offered, laying down the fat vole in front of her, and Splashwave.

Dandelionkit leaped out, spotting Fernleaf and Splashwave she pounced ontop of Fernleaf, while Ivykit bounced ontop of splashwave's shoulders.
    "Love doves!" Dandelionkit cried,
"Yeah! When are you going to have new kits? We could really use some more friends!" Dandelionkit agreed, and Splashwave had a flush of emmbarssment gently taking the small Ivyit off of his shoulders.

EmberPaw's exhausted paws ache, but she manages to trudge to the fresh-kill pile and pick out a mouse, she starts to eat it.

  81. Seedkit got out of her nest tiredly.
'Why is almost everybody suddenly not in camp?' she wondered. Her nose caught wafting and juicy smells of fresh-kill. She dismissed the thought about the clan and ran over to the fresh kill pile. She quickly picked out a vole.
She walked back to the nursery- to find that nobody was in the nursery but Ravenwing.
"Hello." Seedkit offered carefully, she had never been very comfortable around the expecting queen.

  86. "Freshsnow?" Minnowleap called into the warriors den. "Want to go hunting?"

  87. Fernleaf smiled as sshe shared a mouse with Splashwave. She had always wanted this; a relationship with a tom she could trust with her heart.

Wheatkit padded out from the back of the den were he had been talking to Frostkit. He was worred for her, she seemed to grow more and more bitter about her blindness by the day and he wondered how she could ever become a warrior with her sightlessness.
"Hiya! finally your awake!" One of the other kits called and Wheatkit scampered off to go play.

Lingersong sat out in the forest, cocooned in the hollow of a cedar tree, the world, and its complications, separated from her by the rough, red, bark.
"How can this happen?" She sobbed quietly, her body quaking with the weight of her two loves.
    Her clan?
    Or her heart?
Lingersong knew ther was no peaceful median. She would either break the warrior code, and gain disapproval from starclan, or she could follow the strong and almost overwhelming feeling she haad for Stormbreeze. The affection she had for him almost felt like it might crack her fragile heart in two if she kept it inside. Oh, If only Flickerkit was here! she would know how to comfort her, she would tell her what to do. Lingersong was so torn between love and loyalty, pain and the will to go on, that she felt like she could never leave her secluded hiding spot again.
Sobbing into the sap-damp needles, she lay, curled in a muddled half-sleep, until her dreams took over as a brief relief from her breaking heart

  91. Fawndash sat in her den, currently unaware of the black queen giving birth.
Stay with the clan.... a cats vioce whispered in one ear.
You must save the packs! The unmistakeable voice of Kaliska whispered in the other. Fawndash closed her large green eyes as their urgent whispers beat against her skull.
Stormbreeze will know where his loyalties lie.. Kaliskas voice broke through in a clear tone. Would Stormbreeze be loyal to his medicine cat duties when the time of testing came around? Fawndash knew that he was capable of holding the clan up by himself, if only he could get that she cat out of his head! The packs needed her, Fawndash ended up thinking, and, if she was the only one who could save them , did she really want the blood of two whole packs on her paws? She had to do this. She must.
Fawndash had just opened her jaws to call for Stormbreze to tell him of her going away when Twilighttail burst into her tree-den.
"Its Ravenwing! Shes had her kits!"

  92. Reedstar looked up at her deputy suddenly realizing it was a Gathering. “Grest StarClan!” She said. “Thanks for reminding me, Minnowleap. Come on, lets get some warriors together to go.”
She brushed past him and called, “Fernleaf, Skybranch, Splashwave, Emberpaw, Shalepaw, and of course Minnowlep will come to the Gathering tonight,”
The cats assembled, and without a thought of her absent medicine cats or the crestfallen look on Minnowleap’s face, she flitted out of camp.
    ---
Stormbreeze raced after Lingersong, desperately tracking her scent. How could he ever tell her about his true feelings? Yet how could he ever withhold them from her? And what about everything between them? It was as if the world- and StarClan- were between them.
Pine branches ranked and whipped through his fur, but he didn't feel it; he could only scent the path drawing him closer to the one he loved.
And there she lied, in the hollow of a tall red cedar tree. Her flank moved up and down with her breathing.
With a sigh, Stormbreeze thought, ‘She’s safe. For now.’
He climbed up into the hollow cedar and lied down beside Lingersong, matching his breathing to hers, soon drifting off to sleep.

  93. Skybranch raced back to the camp as she heard her name being called, huffing and puffing when she arrived.

She walked near the group of cats, but still separate. She wanted to be alone, to think. That and, she didn't feel like part of the clan that day, she felt as if she were invisible.

  99. Splashwave came to his name, a little excited to know that Fernleaf was also going. Generally her would be staying in the camp to keep a watch out. But he figured if he had the chance to go for now, it would be worth it.

Ivykit watched as the warriors pounded on their paws out of the barrier, she was somewhat disappointed to see that Shalepaw too had to go.
For Ivykit enjoyed playing with the small apprentice.

Dandelionkit came flying out of the nursery, hoping to sneak along with the other warriors as they left for the gathering.

  100. Sunstreak picked her kitten up by the scruff and set her down in the nursery.
"I don't want you getting picked up by Bloodpaw," She said softly.
"He's never taken a kit!" Protested Dandelionkit.
"He took a kit named Flickerkit, and no one ever saw her again," Replied Sunstreak in a spooky voice.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Frostkit ruustle in the corner, right before Waveripple entered the den.
    "Hi guys," He said.
"We're talking about Bloodpaw!" Squeaked one of the kits.
A pained look crossed his face, and he replied, "Really? Well do you want to wrestle instead?"
"Yeah!" shouted the kits in unison, and they all pounced on top of Waveripple.

  101. Dandelionkit tilted her head sadly,
"I would play with you, but I want to play with Frostkit." She exclaimed, giving a look of 'sanctification' towards Waveripple. Lately her small sibling didn't want to have anything to do with anybody and she rarely spoke to so little.
"Frostkit?" Dandelionkit asked, padding up to the corner of the den.
"It's okay, its Dandelionkit. Do you want to play with me? I've thought of so many games we could play together!" Said Dandelionkit wearily, sitting next to her sibling softly.

  103. Wheatkit looked back at Dandilionkit talking to Frostkit as he pounced on Waveripple's head. He was glad Frostkit was getting more attention from the other kits, he had been worried about her. Wheatkit had always been protective of his sisters, and wanted to take care of them as long as he still had breath in his body. Wheatkit often worried about Frostkit, and what she would become. Surely not a warrior? but then again, its not like she could become a medicine cat either, Fawndash and Stormbreeze had that covered. Would Frostkit have to live out her days in the empty, near-abandoned elders den? He hoped with all hs heart that that was not her fate

Lingersong woke from her dreamless sleep to find a warmed pelt pressed up against hers as snow began to coat the pine needles outside the hollow. Looking back, she recognized the thick grey pelt that she had come to love
"Stormbreeze?" She mewed, only to realize that her usually smooth voice had become hoarse from crying.
Stormbreeze lifted his head up sleepily, smiling at Lingersong, his eyes reassuring her with just a glance.
"Lingersong." he said, his voice gentle
"how did you find me here?" She mewed, her pelt still pressed against his.
"I could just... tell." Stormbreeze mewed, "A medicine cat's intuition I guess you could call it" he mewed with a smile.
"Im glad you found me here.." Lingersong mewed, heart beating fast.
"Me too" Stormbreeze mewed, not asking why Lingersong was upset, only pressing closer to her to offer his comfort in whatever was wrong.
"Stormbreeze.." Lingersong mewed, letting her head rest against his chest, "I-"
"I know, " He mewed, his yellow gaze drifting down to meet Lingersong's deep blue eyes., "I love you too."
Lingersong's heart felt filled to bursting with love for Stormbreeze.
"Ill love you to the ends of Starclan and beyond." Stormbreeze mewed, resting his chin on Lingersong's forehead.
And for that moment in time, when the lovers lay curled together in a cedar tree, all was well, and the love of tow cats seemed like enough to warm the whole forest

"Hey, I wonder when Ravenwing is going to have her kits! So then we can play with them- ya know." she added with a hint of curiosity.

  105. Dandelionkit through a moss ball straight at Frostkit, Frostkit flinched and then didn't move at all. Dandelionkit suddenly got worried, slowly advancing toward her sibling. Frostkit without hesitation pulled Dandelionkit to the ground and the moss slowly landed in her face.
Her impression towards her sister was unbearable,
"How did you learn do do that?" She asked probably nearly falling over. "That was almost like a warrior move!"
    "I learn." Frostkit snapped,
    "But you can't-"
"Can't see?" Frostkit challenged, Dandelionkit sadly wandered off past the excitement with Waveripple and all.

Ivykit slept soundly with her mother Songbird, but she was slightly determined to meet up with Shalepaw. Quietly sneaking out of the Root Den she followed Shalepaw's scent out by the barrier keeping watch.
    "Shalepaw?" She whispered.

  107. Sunstreak stared at Ravenwing, but didn't ask. She watched her kits play, and lied down wearily. Ever since kitting, she hadn't slept and coudn't do much for long without getting exhausted soon after, or aching. She'd spent all of her time in the nursery, an apprentice bringing her food. Sunstreak was worried for her heath, and she could tell Waveripple was too.
    "Hey Waveripple, I'm gonna take a walk..Wi-"
"Can I come with you?" He asked hopefully.
She winced. "Actually, i was going to ask you to watch the kits."
"Oh. Yeah, sure," He replied, crestfallen.
    --
Sunstreak stumbled through the misty pine forest, breathing heavily. A fine fog was starting to settle, and in the back of her mind she heard a voice telling her to get back to camp before it got too thick to see through. She stopped at a hollow cedar, head bowed. Looking up, her breath caught in her throat. The world was spinning as if she'd chased her tail for an hour, and black dots edged her vision.
Sunstreak ganced into the cedar, and saw two blurry shapes inside. A set of amber adn a set of blue eyes gazed at her. As they came into focus she noticed the black and white pelt and the dark gray, nearly black one. So familiar, she murmured, thoughts muddled and unclear. Suddenly Sunstreak blinked, realizing how peculiar the scenario was.
    They were gone.
The golden she cat staggered backwards into a White Pine tree, shocked. How was that possible? She whirled around, trying to get her bearings, but a thick gray fog had settled over the land.
A rustle sounded on the branches abive her, and she looked up quickly. SunstreAk inhaled sharply; a black and white pelt rested above, unaware of the shecat below.
"when she returns, kill her." Growled a voice, it's speaker unseen.
The black and white cat remained silent. Sunstreak held her breath and tried to back up unseen, but the dry pine needles rustked loudly. She looked up, seeing if they had heard, but no one was there.
Sunstreak heard her own breath getting harder, louder, and faster in the soundless woods. Her eyes darted from side to side, and her body trembled uncontrollably.
It must be a dark foreast warroior, its the only way that black and white cat could disapear so quickly, she thought.
Sunstreak felt her heart beating so fast she was sure that the Dark Forest warrior could hear it. Stumbling away from the white pine, she ran back to camp.
    --
Sunstreak crawled to the medicine den, determined to tell someone about the Darl Forest warrior. There sat Stormbreeze, who said, "Yes, Sunstreak?"
She paused pondering his resemblence to the cat in the tree hollow. He looked over her shoulder, and she glanced behind her. The black and white cat entered camp, stormy dark blue eyes penetrating the fog.
    "Stay away!" Shrieked Sunstreak.

  110. Dandelionkit's head suddenly faced the ceiling of the nursery in a second, racing out of the nursery she came to an abrupt halt in front of the what seemed to be a black and white cat.
Narrowing her eyes, she stepped back- Turning tail to where the screech came from.
"Mother?" She said, poking her head straight in the medicine den.
"Who is that?" She asked a bit concerned for her mother.

  111. Sunstreak backed up quicky; a strangled whisper escaped her mouth.
    "it's haunting me."
    "Who, Lingersong?" Asked Stormbreeze.
"The black and white she cat! She was in the forest, then disapeared, then I saw her again and she was going to kill me!"
"Lingersong is your Clanmate; what makes you think she'd kill you?" Asked Stormbreeze, baffled. "You're halucinating from sleep deprivation."
Sunstreak eyed Lingersong warily but nodded slowly.
"If you'd like," Offered Stormbreeze, "You can sleep in the medicine den tonight."
Her relief was clear, and she lied down.

  112. Dandelionkit tilted her head, a little dissapointed. She always curled up against her mother at this time of night, now she wouldn't. But, she knew how badly Sunstreak was feeling. After giving birth to her siblings and herself she wasn't acting like herself. Stepping out, she prodded over to the entrance to the barrier. If her mother was suffering from the dangers outside of the clan, Dandelionkit would find them. If it was the last thing she did, padding out she turned her head a bit over her shoulder. And then raced toward the border.

  113. Seedkit woke up and turned to her sister.
"Where were you?" she asked Dandelionkit.

Not a very pleasant night for the clan.

  114. Lingersong shivered in her nest. She was restless. The encounter with Sunstreak still haunted the corners of her mind. Why would Sunstreak, her clanmate, be so alarmed by Lingersong? She had seen the look in the golden shecats eyes: It was fear, Lingersong knew the look so well, she had seen it in the eyes of the whole clan the night Flickerkit disappeared, she had seen it in the eyes of Songbird as she gave birth to her kits, she had even seen it reflected in Fawndashs piercing green gaze as she stared up at the sky from her den in her trees. Yes, Fawndash knew the look of fear. But what she didn't understand is why Sunstreak had been so scard of her. But it wasn't just Sunstreaks raction to her that was bothering her. Lingersong could just feel and growing unease building up beneath her pelt. Something was coming, she didn't know what, or when exactly, but she could feel the encroaching disaster as if it were plainly written out in the stars

  116. Sunstreak awoke in her nest; the moon was so low that you could see the sun rising opposite of it. Her sleep had been restless, and the dark blue eyes stared aat her wherever she went. Then she paused.
The first time she had seen the black and white cat, the eyes had been dark blue- the second time around the colors in the eyes shifted eerily.
How could it be the same cat? How could it not be? Was she really hallucinating, or was there a dangerous rogue astray in the mist clad forest?

  117. Fawndash closed her eyes in decision. She had to leave. there was no other way. As she sat in the back of her den, the pine's shadows enfolding her, she reached out to Starclan, hoping they would not rebuke her for her decision.
"I must go now, it is the only way." She whispered, hoping the starry pelted cats were listening. The only answer she received was a cold blast of sudden wind from outside. PAdding silently, as to not wake anyone, she got up and went to the entrance to the clearing, looking back, she saw Stormbreeze sleeping peacefully in his nest
"Oh I will miss you, you were like my own kit, even from the first time I found you on that Rain-drenched night, even from the first time I saw you grow, and when you first became interested in herbs, I was so exited, so proud." Fawndash had found that her paws had taken her to Stormbreezes side. Pressing her nose briefly into Her apprentices shoulder, she inhaled his scent one last time.
"I will miss you." She mewed as her heart broke. L
Leapng out into the moonlight, Fawndash padded towards the warriors den
"One last thing to do" As she was padding towards the den, she was stopped in her tracks by Sunstreak, who was just emerging from the dirtplace.
"Fawndash?, what are you doing?" The golden shecat asked, her eyes suspicious.
"Sunstreak, " Fawndash mewed, padding over to her, It seemed that this would be that cat to bear the news of her leaving.
"Im leaving." She mewed, simply, trying not to let her emotions into her voice.
"What? Your our medicine cat, you can leave!" Sunstreak mewed, her tone angry.
"I must, you don't uunderstand, but this is something that has to happen"
"Bu-but-" Sunstreak started, but Fawndash gently cut her off
"Please, don't make this any harder than it has to be, just trust me, please." Fawndash, mewed, a sob breaking into the last part of the sentence. Sustreak must have saw the despairing look in Fawndash's eyes, because she simply nodded, showing her consent
"Ill tell the clan in the morning." She mewed
"thank you." Fawndash mewed touching her nose briefly to Sunstreaks
"I know we never really knew each other well, but I wish we had." Fawndash mewed with a smile at the younger shecat
And with that, she disappeared into the forest, leaving sunstreak standing alone in the frost-lit clearing.

  118. Reedstar alked through the misty forest, leading the Gathering Patrol.
"Fernleaf, I have to talk to Minnowleap about something. Please take them to camp, and be quiet as to not wake anyone."
The rusty red she cat replied, "Yes, Reedstar." And left, disappearing into the fog.
"I thought I made the right decision when I made you deputy, Minnowleap. But I've realized that you aren't fit for deputyship. Now, don't get me wrong, you are an excellent warrior and excellent leader, but you often can't fulfill your duties, and a Clan leader must be fully devoted to every task, big or small."
To her surprise, relief relief washed over his face. "I was going to renounce my deputyship, actually, but never got a chance."
"I've had my eyes on one of the warriors for awhile, though," Said Reedstar.
    "Who?" Asked Minnowleap.
    "Fernleaf," Was the reply.
    He nodded.
"Go ahead back to camp and rest; it was a long night."
    "What about you, Reedstar?"
"I need to be alone for a bit, and talk with StarClan about this decision."
He gave a look of sympathy, then trotted to camp.

  119. Lingersong hadn't slept a wink last night. Worry twisted in her stomach, toiling about like the calm before a storm. Unease caused her heart to whir, and she felt light and jittery with anticipation.
Not wanting to wake her slumbering Clan mates, she carefully stood up and crawled out of a crevice in the mass of boulders.
Lingersong took a deep breath of fresh forest air; it was clean and soothing. She dug her claws into a near pine and hoisted herself up. She was an agile, lithe, silhouette against the slowly rising sun. Quickly she scaled the tree, and walked along a particularly thick branch. She leaped from branch to branch, unseen by the oncoming Dawn Patrol.
    ---
Reedstar walked, enjoying the coolness of the dew on the carpet of pine needles. She was glad that the confrontation with Minnowleap had gone so smoothly, and that the Gathering news was joyous and light. Bloodpaw had been seen by no Clan in the past moons, and not a death was heard of.
She stopped at a worn Two Leg path that crossed RainClan territory. It was made of dirt, and tracks of some contraption were indented into the muddy earth.
"Ah!" She hissed, her legs suddenly collapsing beneath a weight that forcefully dropped onto her back. She kicked with her hind legs, and her front legs scrabbled desperately for a grip, but to no avail. The muddy soil prevented her from grasping a hold, and she floundered helplessly.
The pressure on her shoulder blades intensified, and she felt the paws of whoever it was forcing themselves downwards.
She screeched agony when a loud pop sounded, and a shock ran through her shoulder and along the spine. Reedstar started to pant heavily; it felt like there to little air, and with her lungs pressed against the ground her breath was limited.
Reedstar quickly thought of what Fawndash would do.

Once one of the warriors came back to camp after falling out of a tree and dislocating a joint.
"Take a deep breath in with the nose, and slowly exhale." Fawndash told the distressed warrior.

Reedstar's heart beat wildly in her chest but she forced herself to inhale and exhale slowly. With a shock of recognition, nearly worse than the one before, she realized who this cat was.
A set of jaws slowly closed around her neck, and Reedstar closed her eyes tightly.
    ---
From the edges of the scene, Lingersong watched with frozen, horrid fascination. Her paws were rooted to the branch in terror. Could this be...? No. There was no way. Her sister was a kind, selfless kit that never held bitterness to another.
There was a morbid choking sound, followed by the unmistakable gurgle of blood. Lingersong saw a cat that was supposed to be her mother, but now only seemed like a mere acquaintance, a leader who sacrificed the well being of kits for the well being of the Clan. Helpless prey beneath the mirthless claws of her attacker.
She was in a trance. How could this be? The powerful, great leader Reedstar bloodied and utterly defeated at the paws of this cat.
Her mother was dead, all remaining lives sucked out of her body, bleeding onto the muddy Two Leg path.
The black and white she cat looked up, staring right into Lingersong's dark blue gaze, and she knew. There was no running from the fact because the living proof confirmed it.
Flickerkit, the long lost RainClan kit, was standing over the dead body of her mother.

She shivered; the cold feeling that had woken her up frightened her. She got up and slinked out of the den, careful not to wake any slumbering warriors.
Once in the clearing, she stretched her legs, and headed toward the entrance. Whatever was going on was outside the camp; she could sense it.
Dawnsong thought - whereas the she usually woke up optimistic, today she felt a vague feeling of dread. She hurried as quickly as she could into the forest.

  121. (Sorry, I want to rp Splashwave but i dunno what to say!)

Dandelionkit pounded on her paws through the rainy, pine forest.
It was the beginning of dusk, and unusually darker than it was in the nursery.
Starting to slow down, she leaped over a long root belonging to the hollow tree that held its grip on the outside of the undergrowth. It was getting harder to see, for she wanted to stop- But she had to find out what was going on.
Many things were going strange, the story of the so called Flickerkit, everything between the clans has been a disaster.
And it wasn't just Bloodpaw, it was everything.
To much drama, hurt- and unpredictable matters.
It seemed to be rather rare now days, that some 'happyness' turned to any of the clans.
She didn't quiet know why, but destiny was never easy.
They always say the bad comes before the good.
Her dark blue eyes got brighter, as she followed a small stream created out of the pine needles drips of water.
After the overcast weather last night, it wasn't to unusual.

Ivykit flattened her ears, something was wrong.
It was very strange how all of a sudden she would know this,
but it was to awfully how she felt just then.
Narrowing her eyes, she tried to ignore the feeling of truth-
    Whatever was happening wasn't good.

  122. Once outside the camp, Dawnsong scented the air. She smelled a milky nursery scent, and knew a kit must have left the camp. Alarmed, she drew in another breath. Underneath the kit-scent was... Reedstar!
Dawnsong was conflicted about what to do. She knew she should do her duty to the Clan and retrieve the adventuring kit, but she felt an urgent need to assist her leader.
The she-cat heard cats poking their heads out of their nests, grunting as they felt the cold Snow Drift air. With relief, she realized the dawn patrol was heading out. She ran to the leader of the patrol, Splashwave.
"Dandelionkit has gone into the forest!" Dawnsong informed him as she charged back into camp.
    "What?" Freshsnow questioned, suddenly awake.
"Yes, her scent is still fresh, she must have left recently!"
Splashwave and the rest of the patrol followed her out of camp and caught Dandelionkit's scent. They charged off in that direction.
Dawnsong went the other way, following Reedstar's trail, thanking StarClan that this had worked out.
Splashwave's voice interrupted her prayer, "Where are you going?" he yowled.
"Reedstar's missing too!" she replied. To herself she added, "And I'm going to find her."

  124. Skybranch heard something- the gurgle of blood and a scream.
It was her mother's scream- that voice- that scent that had surrounded her ever since she was a kit.
And that was her last sound that she heard of her mother- Reedstar.
Skybranch ran into the clearing and gasped at the cat behind her mother's death.
Flickerkit. She had just killed her own mother.
Skybranch was filled to the brim with anger- and stomped up to her new-found sister with rage and sadness in her eyes.
    "Why?" she chocked out.

  125. Flickerkit snarled defensively, right as a black and gray tabby rushed in too.

  126. Skybranch got up and followed her- slightly bleeding. She called out; "Flicker! It's me! Your sister! Sky! You killed your own mother!!!" she called with a touch of anger at the last part.
She stealthily stalked her sister. 'This is not how she remembered her- her days in the wild woods must have changed her good spirit.
Or it was Bloodpaw..' she thought. She made a mental note in her mind to- if they got a chance to talk- to ask her about that.

As she slunk through the damp undergrowth, she came to a clearing, in which her sister was sitting in the middle of, with her head bowed, and the wind gently whispering across her pelt. the only shimmer of movement in the clearing was the slight flick of Flickerkits tail.
Emerging from the shadows, Lingersong approached her sister.
"Why di you do it?" The words came out of her mouth before she really though about it. Flickerkit jumped, as if she had been unaware of Lingersong's prescence.
"Who are you?" she growled, her guard hairs spiking up
"You really don't remember..?" Lingersong mewed, taking a step closer, "Y-you don't remember any of it?"

    ReplyDelete
  129. "I..I don't know." She replied, her teeth clenched in frustration. She could remember all of her life as an apprentice, but her kithood was dark. It felt like the stilled waters of a lake. The shallow, closest water to the shore was clear, but as you got further the water turn murky and it was impossible to see the bottom.
    "What about Reedst-"
"No! I don't know!" Flicker said with bared teeth, taking a step forward.
Lingersong shrunk down to the ground and curled her tail around her paws.
Then it clicked. There was a sister who used to do that, a tiny black and white kit. There was another one too, another presence at the edge of the den.
"You're Lingerkit?" Asked Flicker, astounded. "Who- who was the other one in the den. The one who always smirked at me... I mean, us?"
"Skybranch, my- our sister." Replied Lingersong, right as the white cat entered.
    Flick spat,"Who are you?!"
"I'm Skybranch, your sister." She said evenly. "Why did you return to kill Reedstar?"
The fur along Flicker's back was spiked out long and dangerous, and her ears were flattened and teeth bared. Electricity flashed through her body, sparked by the memory of this cat.
She said each word long and slow, a took a deliberate step for each word.
"Who... do you... think... you are?"
"What? You're the one who just killed our mother and then threw me on the ground and then ran off! Who do YOU think you are?"
Out of the corner of her eyes Flicker could see Lingerkit getting nervous.
"You're such a hypocrite," She sneered. "It's laughable, really. You wanna know how I remember you? You were that kit in the corner, the sibling who thought she was better than us, even though she came from the same flesh and blood of our parents. 'Oh,Skykit will be deputy one day, she's destined, I'm sure,' Oh how they loved you." She mocked.
Skybranch nearly said something but she was cut off again.
"You know what I was doing those days you were pampered and loved? I was scavenging for food in a StarClan forsaken forest. A burnt down forest to be exact. Do you know how much live prey you find in an ashy, charred graveyard? Dead prey, that's what you find. I scavenged for crow food because it was the hinge of life and death. So don't tell me that your life is ruined because you get a little hurt. Embrace it, because it's not even a fraction of the hurt I felt."
She finished her lecture, sat down, and curled her tail around her paws. By this time a few other cats had shown up, waiting for her to finish.
"You're coming back to camp with us," One of them said.

    ReplyDelete
  130. "Also-" she began before any cat could cut her off.
"I have realized my actions and CHANGED! I am a WARRIOR now for Starclan's sake!" she continued.
"So don't assume I'm a bully," Skybranch finished with a bit of a hurt look in her eyes- she stared right at Flicker when saying that.
She started to walk back to camp with the rest of the group. They came across Reedstar's body and Skybrach shivered. 'If you weren't my sister you would be dead and floating down the river right now,' she thought- anger filling her mind.
Instead of that- she decided to say something else; "Do any of you REALLY want to carry Mom's body?"
This was the first time she had called Reedstar 'Mom.' Her throat seemed to clog and swell as the new word rolled off her tongue. She swallowed to force it down.

  131. "You haven't changed. You're just as self absorbed and worried about your own problems as you were when I left." Flicker said in a low voice. "And I will NEVER forgive you."
She got up, and the group marched her back to camp. They stopped at the body, and Skybranch gave her a dirty look. "Aren't you ashamed of yourself?" She asked. Flicker could hear the devastation in her voice.
"Not really," She said. "Not like I knew or remember her."
She shrugged and added, "By the looks of it, you didn't either."

    ReplyDelete
  132. "You don't know me at all. By the looks of it you HAVE changed." Skybranch half snapped- half meowed.

It was true- she was larger and more muscle was showing in her pelt- and she was tougher physically and emotionally also.
Skybranch was hurt- mentally. Her sister has turned into a good for nothing rogue.
Skybranch gently picked up Reedstar's dead body. Silently whispering a goodbye to her hollow and lifeless mother.

  133. Lingersong looked in schock at Flickerkit
"Why are you doing this, Flickerkit?" Lingersong mewed, her voice ful of hurt and confusion, "This isnt you, this isnt my best friend, this isnt the sister i love." her voiced cracked on the last words. Flickerkit looked at her uncomfortably
"Come back Flicker, please, it can be just like it used to be, we can start fresh, forget you ever left.. Please! you have no idea how much ive been hurting without you here, i dont think i could take it if you left a second time.." Lingersong mewed, her dark blue eyes welling up, and her paws trembling with the build up of the emotion within her.

  135. (Oh she had eight lives, then Flicker killed the rest of them, I just didn't write about it bc it would be the same thing every time. She woke up, died, woke up, died, etc. Anyway try out the action music box with this post, and play Dublin's Dream)

"I have to go back. Their watch-"
"Your coming with us,” one of the patrolling cats growled. “You have no choice."
    ---
Sunstreak jumped in shock as she saw a lifeless body dragged into camp. Who it was she, couldn't see, but the body was gray and white. There hadn't been a death since she was first apprenticed.
Her mouth fell open when she saw who it was- RainClan's leader, Reedstar.
    "Stormbreeze, Reedstar's dead!"
"What?!" He jumped out of the tree den to see fir himself. "What happened?!"
    "This." Someone shoved Flicker forward.
Stormbreeze staggered back, shocked. He exclaimed in disbelief, "Flickerkit! I... I practically raised you. How could you do this? Where have you been?"
She remained silent, staring at him in curiously.
"She's forgotten everything," Whispered Lingersong. "She doesn't know you, Stormbreeze."
"No..." He said quietly. How could this happen? The sweet kit he once knew and loved grew up to be a mirthless killer. Stormbreeze looked away, and covered his woe with an authoritative voice,
"I'll find Fawndash and tell her the news; Minnowleap, you start to the Moon Pine immediately."
"I can't," Minnowleap answered, with a hint of sadness in his voice. "She wanted it to be Fernleaf."
    "What?"
"She wanted deputy to be Fernleaf." The leopard-like warrior repeated.
"Fernleaf? But why..." He shook his head. "Very well; we must respect Reedstar's last wish. I'll go with Fernleaf to the Moon Pine, while Fawndash stays to aid the Clan."
"Fawndash is gone," Sunstreak spoke up, her voice solemn. She left in the middle of the night, and told me she wouldn't come back." Sunstreak remembered the sand cat's green eyes illuminating, golden pelt shimmering in the moon for a few heartbeats, only to disappear into the misty forest. "She wanted me to tell the Clan."
"Wh-what?" Stormbreeze said, and he heard his own voice break with desolation. "She couldn't have left us."
His tail dropped to the earth, ears flattened, and he sank low to the ground. His mentor whom he'd taken for granted and so carelessly and ignorantly turned his back on, was now gone, never to be seen in his life again.
Lingersong quietly padded up to him and touched her cold nose to his ear, but he pulled away and said, "Fernleaf, you'll have to go to the Moon Pine alone tonight. I'll be unable to accompany you with confronting StarClan. I suggest you leave now, while the rest of us mourn. Tomorrow morning we'll bury Reedstar, and you'll choose a deputy. Somebody needs guard Flickerkit; she'll be held captive in a root den."
He got up and left to his den, left to despair in his anguish and misery.

  136. Fernleafs eyes widened in shock. At everything. Reedstar was dead? How? Flickerkit was back? Again, how? Was there some sort of connection between the death of their beloved leader and the return of her long-lost kit?And what about Fawndash? She just up and left? Fernleaf's head swam with confusion and heartache. And she, Fernleaf was now leader? She hadn't even finished training Shalepaw! Why in the world would Reedstar have revoked Minnowleaps deputyship and replaced him with a cat as average as herself? Fernleaf held no hunting or outstanding fighting skill. She was not really outgoing, and Starclan! she wasn't even clanborn! So why in the world would Reedstar have picked her?
" Its because your so hard-working, you know." A soft mew breathed in her ear. It was her sister, Songbird.
"Not hard working enough to fill Reedstar's pawsteps, im afraid." Fernleaf mewed, her brow furrowed in concern.
"Oh, I wouldn't say that Fernleaf. Ive seen you. Ever since we came to the clan so many moons ago, you have worked so hard to be just like all the clan-born cats, trying your hardest to be the best warrior you could, and you were always trying to win the acceptance of your clanmates. Well Fernleaf, now you've won it. Reedstar obviously saw something in you that you have yet to see in yourself. You must take up this role and follow in her pawsteps, theres no one else for the job.
"But what about Minnowleap? Splashwave, or even Stormshadow? Why didn't she choose one of them?"
"Only Reedstar knows that, but we must trust her decision in you." Songbirds gentle and encouraging words helped to calm Fernleaf's nerves. She was right, she had to respect Reedstar's dying wishes, she had to step up and fufill her duty to Reedstar.
"Your right, Songbird, I will do my best to be a worthy clan leader of Rainclan."
"I have faith in you, sister." Songbird mewed, briefly touching her nose to Fernleaf's, "Now you must go, and receive your nine lives." Fernleaf nodded and padded away from her sister, feeling the eyes of her clanmates burning into her back as she made for the trees.
"Oh Starclan, I hope Reedstar was right" Fernleaf thought.
On the way to the Moonpine, Fernleaf thought about who would serve as her deputy. The obvious choices would Splashwave or Songbird, considering one was her mate and the other was her sister, but was that really the way to choose a deputy? Through personal connections? She had a couple cats in mind, she just wasn't sure who would be best for the job.
    -----
When Fernstar awokefrom visiting Starclan, and was padding back into Rainclan's clearing, She felt a new sense of confidence, she could do this.

  137. Splashwave narrowed his eyes, he felt rather queer right then and there.
Fernleaf and Reedstar had been friends for a long time, it wouldn't surprise him if she was hurting even just a little.
Steadily taking each paw- step towards her his head tilted as in three question marks.
    "Are- Are you okay, Fernstar?"
Splashwave sat, concern in his greeny-blue eyes.

Ivykit took up the courage to stand out,
staring at Reedstar's body Ivykit stiffened,
she couldn't possibly- I mean she couldn't really?
    Was Reedstar dead?

Dandelionkit pounced around in the forest, it was rather getting colder and the fog was getting closer up so it was getting harder for her to see what was underneath her.
But it was actually kinda fun, this prooved it.
Dandelionkit was the strongest, couragest kit in the entire pack of them!
Deciding to make camp, she built a little den outside of a hollow tree and buried herself inside while the rain was easing.

  138. Fernstar nodded slowly.
"yeah, im just kind of overwhelmed with everything that just happened. "
    Splashwave nodded.
"ITs just, yesterday I was a normal warrior, now im clan leader." she mewed, looking at her mourning clan. Some cats were sitting around Reedstars body, sitting vigil. These cats included her two daughters, Skybranch and Lingersong, who had glazed looks of grief and confusion over their mothers sudden death. Fernstar saw some cats huddled in the shadowed corners of camp, whispering to one another darkly about the disappearance of their medicine cat.
"Im going to go check in on our prisoner." Fernstar mewed to her mate and padded off to the root den at the base oof the medicine tree that the black and white cat was being held. Stormshadow and Rushingwater were standing guard at the entrance, their eyes sharp and alert, but gazed with grief. Reedstar had been Stormshadow's mate, and, even though Reedstar had not been faithful to him, she still knew that he must be in terrible anguish. As the two toms parted to let her pass, Fernstar briefly pressed her muzzle to Stormshadow's shoulder.
"Im sorry" She mewed quietly. Stormshadow just flicked an ear in gratitude, but his expression remained stony.
Inside the den it was shadowy and dim, the only light oming through the cracks in the roots above and the dim light from the entrance. Fernstar looked around in the eerie light. She would not have saw Flickerkit if not for her white patches of fur that stood out so starkly agains the gloom. She was huddled in a dark corner, as far from the entrance as possible
    "FLickerkit. "Fernstar mewed.
    no reply.
"I came to tell you that, you will be held prisoner here as long as we deem nessacery. Also, you will have to answer our questions with the truth, if you ever expect to become free again."
A low growl was the only response.
Fernstar padded out of the den, glad to be out of the spooky place. Leaping up the tree, Fernstar stood at the entrance to Stormbreezes den. She heard a soft sobbing coming from the back
"Stormbreeze?" She mewed, trying to keep the stress out of her voice
"I should like to be left alone at the moment please, Fernstar." He mewed, the pain evident in his voice.
"ok. "Fernstar nodded and leapt down from the towering pine.
"These cats need something to boost their spirits" She though to herself, knowing that Rainclan need a distraction from the issues at hand
leaping up to the High Pine, She called the traditional Rainclan Clan meeting call:
"All cats old enough to catch their own prey, gather beneath the High Pine for a clan meeting!"
    "

She tried sitting up as best as she could- but it wasn't worth the try, she would always slouch back down.
She looked up at Fernleaf- No. FernSTAR. She seemed to gain a new era f courage and confidence. Skybranch twisted her face- Is this what happens when you become leader?

She ignored the thought and waited for the mourning cats to gather- it took longer than usual, but the clan had time.

  142. "I know that this is a hard time for the clan, after the death of our leader, and disappearance of our medicine cat, it almost seems a cruel twist of fate that these two events had to happen at the same time." Fernstar began, "But I want al cats to know that their still is hope, new warriors will arise and roles will be filled. I know Stormbreeze to be an excellent medicine cat and I will do al in my power to be the best clan leader I can be."
The cats looked up at Fernstar
"So today, I would like to welcome two new warriors into our midst. Emberpaw, Shalepaw, please come forward." She mewed. Shalepaw had been her own apprentice, and, looking down on him now, he looked strong and sleek, just like a full grown warrior. Their eyes met and a spark of acknowledgment passed between them.
"I,Fernstar, leader of Rainclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on these apprentices. they has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend them to you as a warrior in thier turn.
Shalepaw, Emberpaw,do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life? " Fernstar mewed, her voice resonating throughout the shocked gathering of cats
"I-I do." The surprised apprentices mewed
"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Emberpaw, Shalepaw, from this moment you will be known as Emberglow and Shaleclaw. StarClan honors your Brightness, fairness, deepness, and intelligence, and we welcome you as a full warrior of Rainclan.

The clan looked uncertainly about, then broke into cheers for their new fellow warriors
    "Emberglow! Shaleclaw!"
Fernstar smiled at the newly made warriors, who were being welcomed by all the cats of Rainclan.
"I have one more announcement to make."
The clan froze, and looked up from their cheering and congratulating.
"I believe it is high time for a certain kit to be made apprentice. One that has reached six moons and has been waiting eagerly for this day. Ivykit, please step forward."
Songbird looked up in surprise and gave her daughter a couple of quick licks until she was shrugged off by the young cat
" Ivykit , you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Ivypaw. Your mentor will be Skybranch. I hope Skybranch will pass down all she knows on to you."
    Fernstar then looked at Skybranch.
Skybranch, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You had received excellent training from Splashwave, and you have shown yourself to be Strong and Perseverant. You will be the mentor of Ivypaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to Ivypaw."

    ReplyDelete
  143. Splashwave smiled, pushing Skybranch up toward the highrock in a teasingly way.
    "Go on then," He urged.
The faint memory of his apprentice ceremony ,or when he first had Skybranch to teach so much appeared.
They all deserved this moment. It was good for them, they needed some joy after Reedstar's death, he noticed Fernstar had grown rather lonesome after she died.

Ivypaw stared in awe at Fernstar, but still- Shaleclaw was a warrior she had another entire six moons to catch up.
Wait- Why was she suddenly all of a sudden so hung up on Shaleclaw?
Pouncing on Skybranch, she failed to make her drop which annoyed her.
Huffing, she waited for them to go training.
Or at least she hoped her first day as an apprentice didnt mean helping the elders with their fleas.
"Ew." She muttered quietly about the thought.

After the rain stopped, it was dawn, taking off once more she came to an abrupt halt in front of a small twoleg item, it was rather shiny and would do much use.
Maybe she could find lost things and use them for traps on Bloodpaw or someone!
Maybe this little adventure wouldn't be as bad as she thought after all!

  144. Skybranch was taken aback- she had no idea that she was mentoring this young cat.
She made a promise to herself- that she would train Ivypaw to be the best warrior that there could be.
Skybranch touched Ivypaw's nose lightly and as she said "Ew"- laughed for the first time in a while.
"Don't worry. You won't be cleaning the Elder's Den and fleas just yet. First- we have to tour the territory, landmarks, places- all that good stuff." she promised her apprentice.

  147. A day had passed since the ceremony, and Sunstreak acted especially upbeat for her kits. She didn't want them to know that Reedstar had died, and how. Some of the senior warriors had buried her outside of camp, and buried fireweed and columbine flower seeds over it. Once Clear Sky returned, which it would soon, the beautiful violet and pink flowers would blossom as a memorial to Reedstar.
Tonight was a Gathering, and Sunstreak wondered if Fernstar would appoint a deputy before or after it. She also wondered what the Clan would do about Flicker. She'd been captive for days and interrogated, but apparently only had random and vague memory. Flicker was also an assassin- she'd been "assigned a target", not knowing that this target was her mother.
Sunstreak stepped out of camp and inhaled deeply. The misty woods refreshed her lungs, and she decided it was nice day to hunt.
    --
Flicker lingered in the back of the earthy den. Her paws were mud caked; rain water and groundwater constantly seeped into the bottom of the dip, never giving the soil a chance to dry.
Dirt clumped to the root ceiling, and whenever Flicker's back brushed against it, the fine, dustlike earth rained down and showered through her fur and throughout her pelt.
She growled and shook it out again.
Flicker was quickly loosing patience- her unrelentingly itching pelt, the cold mud that oozed in between her paw pads, sleepless nights that dragged through dusk to dawn, all caused her to snap. She moved to as far back in the den as she could, the cold darkness moving in as the sun started to set.

Stormbreeze narrowed his eyes, "Calm down Ravenwing, I'll see to it now." He mentioned, padding out of the medicine den and to Willowkit.
Asking Willowkit to lay down, he examined her paw.
"I don't know the cause of this, because this is a very rare situation. But it might be because she is still young, she wasn't born in the nursery after all.
She might have gotten a strange reaction to where she was, you did say she was born by the thunderpath?
Ill keep a close eye out for this. Don't worry." Stormbreeze informed, smiling at Willowkit and then padding away.

It had been several moons since Dandelionkit left camp, and she was sure she had an infection in one of her paws, but after a few days of rest Dandelionkit healed it up with the herbs she found laying around roots beneath trees or far off and below streams, this was actually fun!

Ivykit was very frightened by the dead of Reedstar, and was awfully curious about the one who brutally murdered her.
Quietly dashing up to where Flickerkit was, she entered.
Looking for the black and white cat everyone was talking about.
    "Hello? Flickerkit?"..

It's probably because you haven't weaned your kits yet; the same thing could be expected in Roaringkit soon if you don't start feeding them meat. I'm going to give Willowkit some chamomile and ragweed, which will strengthen the muscles in her paw." Stormbreeze leaped to one pine next to the one he w.as in, and climbed to the owl's crevice. Pawing around, he snagged the leaves he needed, and came back to the two cats.
"Chew these up thoroughly, then swallow. Some jasmine will help it go down," He added, and added a jasmine leaf to the pile.
    --
"My name is Flicker." She growled lowly. She was surprised they let an apprentice come see her.
"What is it you would like to know?" She asked the smaller cat, but didn't get an answer because two warriors entered.
"Ivypaw, go see Splashwave. We have to talk with Flicker."
Flicker settled down as she left, and started to gnaw on a bone from a blackbird that she was given a day ago.
"So you worked for Bloodpaw?" Asked Stormshadow.
"I guess," Flicker replied. "If that's what you want to call it."
"So you have no regrets from killing Reedstar?"
    "None."
"So you didn't mind being raised by Bloodpaw?" The other gray tom, Rushingwater, asked this question.
"Well...Yes, I did. It's not like he was ever loving, of course, and I had a wound almost all of the time." She swished her tail gently, and flicked her ears nervously.
"He's most likely noticed my absence, which is a big problem. When he finds me he'll kill me, labeling me as a traitor."
"What's to keep us from throwing you out from our protection and letting you die, as payment for the murder?" Stormshadow hissed.
"Lingersong. If you did that, you would devastate her. And besides that, how would StarClan judge you for it? Throwing a helpless she cat out into the claws of Bloodstreak."
"Bloodstreak?" Asked Rushingwater, before Stormshadow got a chance to spit out a mirthless reply.
"That's what he started calling himself after awhile. He appointed himself a warrior name," She said. "But almost everyone else he's kidnapped lost their last name and went by their first only."
Her eyes moved to Minnowleap, who entered the already crowded den.
"Have we come to a conclusion?"
Rushingwater said, "Follow me, we'll decide somewhere more private."
He left the den, and they gathered a few wolverine lengths away.
"She can't rememebr most of her kithood and early apprenticehood. She told us that it was like a dark, deep sleep, and when she awoke, someone told her that she'd been in a coma for moons. She said ever since she woke up she had both long and short term memory loss. She was from there on out trained by Malicepaw and Bloodpaw and whatever they said was the rule. And that's why she killed Reedstar; she was forced to and if she didn't she would die. And now that she's been stuck here, he's going to hunt her down if she leaves because she'll look like a traitor."
"How would the other Clans see us if we threw Flicker out? Not only was she one of the Clan's kits, but when she returned we turned her away. We would be scorned by the other Clans-"
"She killed our leader!" Interjected Stormshadow.
    "She's your daughter!"
"Not mine. His his. Maybe if they hadn't run off together, Reedstar wouldn't of paid the consequences of being murdered by her own mistake!" Stormshadow snarled, tail lashing and fur bristling.
The other two toms stared at him, but he whipped away and stalked to camp.

  154. --
Rushingwater and Minnowleap padded back to camp together, dismayed by Stormshadow's cold outlook on the murder of his mate.
Rushingwater pondered "Bloodstreak's" group that he'd collected. Rushingwater's own family had been killed by him- why hadn't he added them to the collection of captives?
He disregarded it as he and Minnowleap entered the camp, and came to Fernstar's lean to den. He said, "Fernstar, we think Flicker is worthy to stay in RainClan. Some of the senior warriors have been interrogating her, and from what it sounds, she actually isn't on Bloodpaw's side."

  156. Splashwave sat beside Ivypaw outside of the nursery,
"Ivypaw, why do you look so troubled? Is something bothering you?" He smiled, curiously gazing at the small apprentice.
"Everyone seems so down lately, after Reedstar died.
It's like they don't care you know?" She added afterwards.
Splashwave didn't quite get what she meant and shared his own questioning glance as a response.
"It's just, they don't appreciate or accept the way they have to live now. Reedstar is dead, Fernstar has been chosen to be leader, Flickerkit is held responsible. It isn't fair, why can't everyone just accept the way things are now and move on?" She spat, almost forgetting Splashwave was there.
    Ivypaw was right,
this was a very hard situation to deal with, but since when was there a problem we couldn't pull through?
At Ivypaw's age, she could really say some wise things.
It was time to change things, if Flickerkit doesn't remember they shouldn't hold her hostage because of the trait she did.
She doesn't even remember, its not like the'll force her to.
She obviously forgot because she didn't want to remember, so it would be about time to just leave it at that.
    Splashwave sat up,
"Thank's little one." He padded over to Fernstar,
"Can we talk?" He asked, politely.
He was acting rather formally but he was always like that.

Dandelionkit had heard the hole conversation and honestly agreed.
This was the truth, honest anger Ivypaw was showing.
"Ivypaw" Dandelionkits, small heart warming voice called to her around the corner,
"It's okay. I understand your feelings, and that now in the matter is rough. But everyone needs to move on or they truly aren't going to get past what their feeling right now, yes Reedstar was a peaceful, determined leader but now we have Fernstar, and one day a new leader will be called up. This is our general life style, so yes. I understand Ivypaw" She padded away.

  157. Willowkit walked around the camp exploring fasinated by the silliest things, she mewed and played around in the clearing. poked at the dead animals in the middle of the clearing and played with dandalion.

  158. Stormbreeze said to Ravenwing, "You newly weaned kits can't chew themselves, which is the reason she won't eat. You have to chew the meat for her, spit it out, and then she'll eat it."
He stared at her; he had thought every queen new this.

  159. I know that stormbreeze, she scowled a bit then looked at her kit. (( Willow wants her paw to be shorter than her others. she needs a reason to be a med.))

  160. (Fernstar wants to talk to you about that though, so I wouldn't do anything with that plot until she consults you about it)

  161. Fernstar nodded as she heard what Splashwave had to say. Rushingwater contributed here and there, and Fernstar finally said,
"I'll give her a choice: If she wants to stay with the Clan, she may, but if not, she can leave." Splashwave nodded with satisfaction, and Fernstar turned to Rushingwater and said, "But, if she isn't accepted, you can't come to me and tell me to punish the warriors who won't accept her. The warriors are entitled to what they think of her actions, and if she's scorned for them, it's because what she did wasn't right."
The toms nodded, and Fernstar continued,
"We have a Gathering now; you two come."
She leaped onto High Rock, and called to the Clan, "I want all warriors, with the exceptions of queens, to come to this Gathering. Flicker and the apprentices may come as well."
    ---
Lingersong tried to find Stormbreeze, but the crowd of warriors was too massive and chaotic. She hoped she could find him during the Gathering; they hadn't talked to one another much in the past few days. He'd been out of sorts since Fawndash had gone, and Lingersong figured he needed some alone time.
Lingersong followed the cats; it wasn't often that practically the entire Clan went to Gatherings.
(If your have a cat thats a warrior, they're at the gathering, so go to http://warriorgatherings.blogspot.com/p/roleplay.html to post)

  162. (So, Midnight slipped over here, thought I'd better post here. And for the sake of making things interesting, he's forgotten there's a gathering.)
Midnight entered Rainclan territory. So far he hadn't had any problems, getting into Rainclan was easy. 'A little too easy.' He thought. 'Where is everyone?'

  163. Songbird watched the warrior from behind a cedar. Sunstreak had defied orders and left anyway, asking Songbird to take care of her kits. Songbird had left all the kits in the nursery, and patrolled the borders to assure no one broke in.
"What do you want?" She hissed, steeping out from her hiding place.

  164. Willow woke up at the break of dawn, she was growing very quickly and more and more of her paw was getting shorter, or so it looked since she had gotten older. She has started talking and was almost ready for the nursary.

  165. Raven looked down of her kit with a smile, she eyes were filled with worrie as her eyes drifted to her paw." You stay here Willow,Mommys going to go get more prey for you." She mewed as she stood up with a stretch and left the den.

  166. After Raven left the den Willows smile faded, she knew that something was wrong, she wasnt balancing herself right. She tried pouncing, as she pushed off she went pretty high. On her way down when she hit the moss from the bed she yowled, all her weight was put on her one paw. The oter didnt touch with the other as she landed, she fell to her side and tucked her good paw in.

  167. Midnight whirled around. As bad as it was to get caught, he was kind of relieved to see a cat. He wasn't great at explaining things fully, so he thought a bit about what to say. "Hiddenclan thinks Rainclan killed to of our warriors. I don't believe it."

  168. "What? No! Why would we do that?”
“I don’t know, but there’s an entire battle going on at the Gathering.”
Songbird’s eyes filled with worry. “They won’t come for the kits, will they?” She asked.
"I don't think so, but we need to get to the bottom of this, and stop the battle."

  169. Willow kit woke in the middle of the night to a sound of yowling cat, she shank back into her mothers thick fur.She was now old enough to think and talk,"What was that" She mewed to herself moving away from her mother, she stepped out of the nursary to the sound of howling winds. She croutched for a moment then stood straight and looking into the never ending darkness.

  170. Skybranch dragged Sunstreak into camp, Sunstreak knocked out cold.
"Help! She needs help!" Skybranch hoarsely shouted.
You would not recognize Skybranch if you have only seen her once. She had a new look of determination on her face, her dirty, stained face.
She knew that scratch that Bloodstreak had given her would leave a scar, but she would be proud of it, someday.
She flopped to the ground, weary from the run before, and sighed.
    "Help.." she shouted.

  171. -Willowkit stood and walked out of the nursary, she looked to the sky with her olive glassy eyes, she looked up to the cloudy dark sky, she stretched and clawed at the grassy freshly dewed ground, as she started walking she had a limp her leg never grew to match her others, shes started eating meat and stopped feeding from her mother Ravenwing. she sat and stiffed the air as her mouth dropped open to gather the better sents-

  172. (Skybranch left, Sunstreak is still there. She needs herbs.)

Seedkit tumbled and thrashed in her sleep. White, glowing eyes stared at her and suddenly lunged for her. "Only one can save you!" the cat hissed.
Before the cat could rip her insides open with his needle sharp claws, she awoken. She gasped and her heart rate steadied as soon as she realized she was in the nursery.
She stretched and walked out of the den, knowing nothing of the body that would lay a few taillengths away from her very spot.
She screamed once she reached the body. "Sunstreak!!!!" she screeched. "HELP! SOMEBODY! SUNSTREAK!" she howled.
A look of pure terror appeared on her face and she gulped. "Mom?" she asked, tears filling her eyes. She tried to speak but chocked on her words. The waterfall started to flow, no stopping it.
"Why?" she asked. "Why why why?" she asked once more, curling up into a ball beside her mother. She felt breathing, shallow, but it was breathing.
    "She's alive!!" Seedkit exclaimed.

  173. "If he...Blood... comes... run away from home. No Clan is better than him.." She exhaled, closing her eyes.
A tear leaked out of Sunstreak's eye as she heard the wails and shrieks of her kits fade into the distance.
    ---
Stormbreeze staggered into camp, a deep cut trailing from his neck to the upper muscle of his leg. Blood oozed over all of his limbs, and his sight was failing.
He saw a bloody mess lying on the bed of pine needles in the center of camp; he realized it was Sunstreak as he got closer.
He saw her kits and felt a pang of anguish; she had four fatherless kits... Maybe even motherless now. He lowered his ear to her chest and listened for her heartbeat, but there was none. Her body was still warm, but there was no light rise and fall of the flank. Her moaned and whimpered, and he looked up at them.
"It's okay," He tried to soothe, "Just go back to the nursery and..."
He trailed off, seeing them shrink away, fear in their eyes. He became aware of his morbid appearance; shreds of fur and skin hung off of him, blood covered half his face and pelt, and he looked atrociously mangled.
Stormbreeze backed away, then stumbled out of camp, fixed on finding Skybranch.

  177. Stormbreeze found Skybranch. "I need to talk to you," He said urgently. "We have no leader or deputy. I think-"
"You have to be the next leader of RainClan," Reedstar mewed, walking through the trees towards them. No one else seemed to see her.
"I say these words before StarClan, so that the spirits of our warrior ancestors may hear and approve of this choice. The new leader of RainClan is Skykbranch."

  178. Frostkit sighed sadly as she sat in the corner nursery. She twitched her ears a couple times, trying to work out the sounds coming from the camp. 'Stupid blindness!' She hissed to herself.
